Abstract
The growing use of GenAI tools in programming education raises concerns about student over-reliance and the potential adverse impact on the development of foundational skills. This research-in-progress adopts a Design Science Research (DSR) approach to propose the GRE Model, a pedagogical artifact for Python programming education. The model structures learning into seven modules aligned with Bloom’s Taxonomy and integrates AI-supported guidance, reflective practice, and evaluation. The paper contributes a design-oriented framework that supports the responsible integration of GenAI while promoting critical thinking, engagement, and core programming competencies.
