Abstract
Description: An online interface was created to enter details of equipment from off site and remote locations. There ids tracking of asset tags, software license and lease expiration maintenance amongst various other uses. The system is being used to • send alerts upon expiry of licenses; • help in planning or buying and maintaining new equipment; • help keep details of PC's and/or laptops loaned to employees for telecommuting; • store issue of items like ergonomic keyboards, headphones and so on; • Track tickets issued for PC and other systems related problems, date fixed and user feedback. The following modules were created as per the design: • Inventory module: The inventory module will take care of the current and past inventory storage of the system. The user will be able to add, modify and view or update the inventory. • Inventory status module: This module will track the status of the inventory where it is currently at, is it loaned outside, is it onsite or at a different location etc. • Order and Billing: This module will show the current outstanding equipment orders and billing status. The front end for the system is Oracle Forms and Reports and the back End database was decided to be Oracle 9i The primary users of the system are the Information Systems employees of the company. This system helps to eliminate paper records of licenses and other system tracking all over the company and maintain an integrated database for easy management and system support.
