Abstract
DSub is a course substitution system that improves upon the paper-based process currently being used at Dakota State University (DSU). A course substitution allows a student to use an alternate course in order to meet a program requirement. The substitution must be approved by several offices and ultimately recorded on the student record by the Registrar. In this report, the current system will be explained. The design of the DSub system will be illustrated to show the architecture of this web-based solution. The benefits of DSub will be presented through an analysis of the activities that each type of user will perform. This report illustrates the functionality of a substitution system prototype that will be demonstrated to key decision makers on the DSU campus.
