Abstract
Shawnee Community College, a rural community college in the southernmost portion of southern Illinois, needed an avenue to provide accurate catalog information to prospective students, current students, faculty and staff, and the community. The implementation of such a catalog was becoming more critical with the expansion of program offerings to include degrees sought through online means alone. The SCC Online Catalog project was chosen by the institution to provide a solution to the current catalog situation and a project plan was formed. After identifying platform options, the project team and the identified key stakeholders chose to utilize ASP.NET 2.0 along with Microsoft's Visual Web Developer to create the necessary pages. Microsoft's SQL Server was utilized for the database back-end to provide course catalog information. The project team comprised of Dakota State University employees and Shawnee Community College employees guided the creation and implementation of an all encompassing online catalog that will offer up-to-date catalog information.
