Abstract

Office workers in today's digital world are presented with as much paperwork as ever before. Looking for and finding information on these paper documents takes considerable time and effort, in addition to the added costs of mailing or faxing information between offices. With a document imaging system, individuals are able to quickly search for and retrieve exact copies of the paper documents. They can then email or just convey the information on the document, all without leaving their workstation saving valuable time. RAM Enterprises was looking to add this solution to their existing accounting software offering, and this paper will describe the process undertaken to create this new module we call RAM Scan. Integration and familiarity with the existing product offerings was a fundamental principle during the design of the RAM Scan interface. Feedback from the users indicates that we have achieved our goal. The RAM Scan document imaging module is now in production at the RAM office in Aberdeen, SD, and we are just now beginning to realize the long term benefits of using such a system. Two additional sites are being brought online in Mobridge and Brookings, SD.
