Abstract

Sunrise Apartments and Townhomes Property Management needed a web application that could effectively assist the residents to report maintenance related issues and other concerns. Also there was need of some kind of reporting application to give the company better visibility of the business. The scope of the web application was to build the following data: entry, file extraction, form submission, database updating and reporting. The web application has two components: one section accessible for wider a audience and other section for property management staff only. The second component has a role-based security system; based on the role that is assigned, the user would be able to perform actions that are assigned for that role. The web application was built using Microsoft Visual Studio 2010 and SQL Server 2005 developer edition. The language of choice is .NET in the development of the application. The application was completed in mid-spring of 2012. The agile software development method was used during the development of the application. The requirement was captured during the initial phase of the development cycle and subsequently, the application was developed with active engagement with the stakeholders.
