Abstract
This report is based on the actual experiences involved in restructuring and redesigning a corporate business web site. Martin Group, Inc. is a provider of telecommunication solutions to small/medium-sized companies in the United States. Martin Group had formerly outsourced the design and development of its corporate web site (www.martin-group.com). Martin Group's decision to internalize these types of activities lays the foundation for this project. The transformation process was complex in that it required such a diverse set of tasks such as project management, web design, web programming, database development, computer/human interaction, network security, and online marketing. This project required a full understanding of the business and technical issues involved as well as the ability to design and implement an optimal solution for the company's unique situation. Today, Martin-Group.com has a new and improved design and a feature-rich set of functionality. Through extensive analysis, collaboration, and development efforts Martin Group's web presence was transformed from one laden with poor graphics design, outdated content, and an archaic structure into a much more useful, useable, visually pleasing, and dynamic web site. Martin Group will realize better brand recognition, an increase in repeat visitors, and a better public image through its web presence, making them more competitive in the ILEC market within the telecommunications industry.
