Abstract
Cox Communications, Inc is one of the five largest cable companies in the nation. It provides digital cable service (video), telephone service (voice), and high speed Internet service ( data). Fairfax County, Virginia, 20 miles from Washington, D.C., is a thriving urban county. The median household income of the county is one of the highest in the nation, and over half of its adult residents have four-year college degrees or more educational attainment. Fairfax County also is home to an extensive commercial office market and is a major employment center. For many years, Cox Northern Virginia Materials Management Team has tracked its equipment from papers, Microsoft Excel spreadsheet, to Microsoft Access Database. None of the solutions really delivered the desired result of Materials Management Team's expectation. The goal of this project is to create a Web-based Cox Communications Northern Virginia Materials Management System on the Intranet. The system will manage all materials that are used for company's daily business operations of Network Development and Field Operations in Cox Northern Virginia. As the Materials Management System completes, it will have powerful search engine, and do faster and stable transmission. The system will be a secure centralized thin-client application.
