Abstract
This project is to design and develop PRICING of items, with respect to location, time, promotion etc in Circuit City Stores. The main objective of the project is to extract data from Oracle Retek Packages like Retek Merchandising System (RMS), Retek Price Management (RPM) and Caesar, transform accordingly at different stages and load data into DB2. Initial scope of the project is to do source analysis on codes from these tables and maintain them in EDW in different phases. The scope is extended in developing a new Data Warehousing (EDW) approach based on Object Oriented Analysis, designing and developing Enterprise Data Mart (EDM) reporting models PRICE PERFORMANCE REPORT and MARKET INTELLIGENCE REPORT. Several mappings, sessions, workflows, Unix Scripts, Store Procedures are developed using Informatica as ETL tool. The ETL process is done in 3 stages 1. Loading data from sources like RMS, RPM, and Caeser to Staging Area. 2. Loading data from Staging Area to Enterprise Data Warehouse (EDW) 3. Loading data from EDW to Enterprise Data Mare (EDM) The report gives over view of the entire project. The project objectives, features and problem objectives are outlined in the introduction part of the report. System specifications, source analysis and design of the system are explained in the second phase of the report. Implementing and developing of workflows and Unix scripts are explained with basic syntax and screen shots are explained in the next chapter. Sample Unit test case is shown. Finally, the report is concluded with future enhancements and lessons learned in this project.
