Abstract
In the current growing online commodity market, opinion survey plays a major role for the enhancement of the business. Many organizations prefer theses surveys in order to improve their service and market from the user feedback. Organizations would like to have a database system which allows them to get user opinions on different platforms like product websites, blogs, discussion groups, etc. They want the system to store the date, time and the text of opinion every time, the user enters an opinion on any platform. Some platforms allow the user to give a numeric score for the product. Score range is provided for that platform and product. The system needs to record the score, when the user actually gives a score on a product. We analyzed the current data, general business needs and database needs of the organizations to design a database system that best suits all the above requirements. We designed a preliminary conceptual model following an E-R model with the enterprise data model. We examined the forms, inquiries and each transaction in detail and integrated these in order to design the final physical design of the database. We carefully did the observation; identified and implemented the security requirements accordingly. The system was developed using the Visual Basic as the front end integrated on a oracle back end environment.
