Abstract
This paper describes the development of Christ the Good Shepherd Lutheran Church's (CTGS) membership database. The data at CTGS was built by volunteers and the church secretary in various places such as excel spreadsheets, MS word, and Access databases. CTGS was in need of data reorganization, including a central storage place for all of their data, a more efficient way of storing their data, and a way that enforced stronger data integrity. The following paper describes a new project that brought all of the CTGS data into one central location via a MS SQL database using MS Access as a front end data entry and reporting tool. The database is built as a relational database which enforces stronger integrity, and is built to be more efficient then the current process. The CTGS database will be used to keep track of members, attendance, talents, prayer requests, youth, sponsors, transfers and events.
