Abstract
This project document describes the efforts of Jodi Knutson and Shane Sattler, graduate students of the MSIS program at Dakota State University, to create a data warehouse for the Washington Pavilion of Arts and Sciences. The document begins with an explanation of the "as-is" situation at the Pavilion prior to the implementation of the data warehouse. It then explains the purpose of the graduate project and defines the goals of the data warehouse implementation. The body of the paper offers detailed analyses of the efforts related to designing and building the data warehouse. It explains many of the steps required to achieve the stated project goals, and examines the relative success and failure of these efforts. The piece also describes some of the obstacles encountered along the way, and how this project evolved in response to those obstacles. Finally, the conclusion analyzes the successes and failures of the project, and follows up with a list of prospective opportunities for future improvements that build upon this foundation. Perhaps another team of intrepid graduate students will take up the call.
