Abstract

The process of developing a decision support system for the Distance Leaming department at National American University is examined. A system request and investigation of existing systems reveals deficiencies that are corrected by providing centralized management of data related to the university's faculty and classes. Access to the data is provided through the development of a secure web based application utilizing a relational database to store the data. The choice of technologies is based on meeting user needs while minimizing the risk of project failure by utilizing more familiar products. Opportunities to extend and improve the new system are considered.
